Digital Cameras are fast replacing their film-based cousins. The leading brands are Canon, Casio, Fujifilm, HP, Kodak, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic, Pentax, Samsung, and Sony.

Digital cameras come with either a fixed focus lens or a zoom lens. A zoom lens can zoom in on objects depending on the optical zoom capacity of the lens. Digital zoom option also available, but it is nothing but software interpolation of an image. You can find cameras with extended zoom ranges between 8x and 18x, giving added versatility for outdoor photography.

A high-quality sensor will reproduce a crisp image. Sensors are two types: CMOS and CCD. CMOS sensors are found in low cost cameras. CCD is expensive to produce and offer better image quality.

Mid-Range Camera is what we term a growing category of cameras offering many of an SLR'sbenefits for a lot less money. They feature a more versatile lens than other point-andshoots, although it's built-in, rather than interchangeable.
